MOOC on ‘Migration, Health and Equity in Europe’
The Lancet Migration European Regional Hub launched a new Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) focused on ‘Migration, Health and Equity in Europe’ in December 2024. This 5-week free course, delivered through Coursera, introduces learners to key challenges and strategies to addressing the health of migrants, refugees and other displaced populations in Europe. It was co-developed by the University of Geneva, Lancet Migration, and the University of Milan with funding from the 4EU+ Alliance. The content was inspired by the Hub’s recent series published in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe.
There are contributions from regional experts (WHO, UNHCR, academics, and a number of iNGOs) about their own experiences and insights about studying, planning and promoting health among certain groups of migrants, especially those that are vulnerable in the European Region.
The five modules of the course are as followed:
1. Introduction to Migration and the Context in Europe
2. State of health and healthcare provision in Europe
3. Barriers to Health Services and Healthcare
4. Good practices for improving and studying migrant health in Europe
5. Research, evidence, and better science
