2024 Lancet Series

The Lancet Migration European Regional Hub coordinated a The Lancet Regional Health – Europe series on ‘Addressing migration and health inequity in Europe’ which was published in May 2024. The open-access series provides an overview of the WHO European Region’s challenges and opportunities for addressing major health inequities among different migrant groups. There are seven papers included in the Series, as well as a Comment and an Editorial. The papers examine different topics, ranging from policy, education, research, and clinical practice. A deliberate effort was made to ensure diverse authorship, bringing together 59 experts from 14 countries, including academics, clinicians, international and local NGOs, UN agencies, and young scholars across the WHO/EURO region. The Series was officially launched during the Geneva Health Forum on May 28th 2024, held alongside the 77th WHO Health Assembly. The Series sends a strong message, that “integrating migrant health into all policies is not just necessary—it’s a moral mandate to safeguard the wellbeing of all populations.”
