Teresita Rocha

Ph.D. in Public Health with a concentration in Global Health from the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University. She also earned a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies with a focus on International Migration from the University of California, San Diego, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM). For both her master’s and doctoral studies, she received full scholarships from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and UC-Mexus.

She has been dedicated to researching how migration and mobility experiences impact sexual health among female sex workers and the mental health of migrants in transit along Mexico’s northern and southern borders since 2011. Teresita has extensive experience with qualitative methodology, geospatial analysis, and mixed methods research. She has also served as a visiting scholar at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, UC San Diego.

Currently, Teresita Rocha is an Associate Professor at the Center for Research in Society and Health (CISS) and the Director of the Public Policy Doctoral Program at Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile. She is also investigating the effects of restrictive policies on the health of Haitian and Venezuelan migrants in Chile.
