Rita Issa

Clinical Research Fellow in Climate Change

Dr Rita Issa is a practicing GP and clinical research fellow in Climate Change, Migration and Health at Lancet Migration. Her current projects explore 1) research gaps in the climate change-migration-health nexus; 2) heat and migration; 3) SRH and climate migration; 4) Mental Health and climate migration, and 5) the health impacts of climate adaptation. She is a member of the CliMigHealth International Thematic Network working on this nexus and draws upon experience in migrant health projects with MSF, climate health projects with WHO and Greenpeace, and extensive advocacy and public communications experience on these themes. She’s proud of the work achieved by Lancet Migration at COP26, including panel discussions and commitments from WHO, IOM, Ban Ki-Moon and the French government, to move to collaboration on the nexus.
