Epidemiologist and public health expert holding a PhD in Epidemiology, MSc, and MD. He has been deeply involved in advancing health information systems to better understand and mitigate health inequities in low- and middle-income countries.
As the former Director of Epidemiology and Demography in Colombia from 2020 to 2022, he played a pivotal role in shaping evidence-based public health strategies, including leading the National COVID-19 Vaccination Plan and overseeing the knowledge management strategy during the pandemic response. His tenure as National Director of Epidemiology positioned him as a key figure in national and regional decision-making processes. Additionally, he served as an Assistant Scientist at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins.
Currently, he continues his leadership in public health as the Deputy Secretary of Public Health of Bogotá since 2024, bringing a practical understanding of public health challenges to his work.
