Clinical and Health Psychology expert with a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Chile and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Barcelona, with a European mention in Psychology. He is a Full Professor and researcher at the School of Psychology at Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile.
Since 2013, he has been the principal investigator on various health and migration projects funded by the Chilean government through the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FONDECYT). He served as President of the Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP) until 2023 and has been on the board of the Latin American Association of Health Psychology (ALAPSA).
Currently, Alfonso Urzúa serves as Director of the Doctoral Program at the School of Psychology at Universidad Católica del Norte. He is also a member and coordinator of the Psychology Committee for the Advanced Human Capital Formation Program of the National Agency for Research and Development and the Psychology Committee of the National Accreditation Commission (CNA).
